So this is a horror musical...it's really pretty cool IMO. The music is great, definitely metal influenced in some songs. It is a very gothic movie, as far as costuming and, well, frankly the theme too. Premise? Sometime later in the 21st century people start having to get transplants much more often...until it becomes a trend. GeneCo is a company that arises to provide people with organs, and finances them...but if they don't make their payments on time, well...their organs get re-possessed. So it's kinda gruesome at parts. But I dig it.

"Say you bought a heart or new corneas...but somehow never managed to square away your debts? He won't bother to write or to phone you, he'll just rip the still-beating heart from your chest!"

I saw a clip of this on the David Letterman show a while ago. It looked laughably bad. The song that they showed was horrible. It has Paris Hilton in it (she was the one promoting the movie), and she said that it was like The Rocky Horror Picture Show, but better.

rofl. Paris is a horrible promoter for it. She basically played a slutty surgery addict in the movie, and she doesn't sing that many songs...

It already has a cult following. I wouldn't say it is better than Rocky Horror, it's just different. But in the sense that it is a cult classic, it is similar. I did not like Rocky Horror, actually, but I did like Repo! Don't get me, I am opposed to Paris as most people...but I think she did pretty well in this film, mostly because she was playing herself.

The only good female singer really was Sarah Brightman, who is DUH a good singer. lol. Alexa Vega was OK. But the real show stoppers were actually the Graverobber's pieces. Love his voice. And Anthony Stewart Head was in it, he has a pretty good voice too.

Sarah Brightman (Blind Mag):

Graverobber:

It's interesting social commentary anyway. About people's obsession with appearance and perfection etc. and extrapolating it to the future when people will want "designer hearts" which alas "still beat with common blood."

But yeah, if you are judging it by Paris Hilton's performance...well, it would look bad. lol. She doesn't even get the movie really, she's too simple-minded to understand it. It's really laughable that they interviewed her about it. I remember seeing an inerview with her AND the director. She didn't do much talking. lol.

This actually looks really cool after watching the vids you posted, as well as a few others. The Graverobber guy definitely has a cool voice. Hell, he sounds cool even when he's just talking. I also watched a clip of Anthony Stewart Head singing and was really surprised at how good he sounded. I never liked Sarah Brightman much though. Her voice can get on my nerves depending on what she's singing. Paris is fucking stupid. This looks nothing like Rocky Horror (which I absolutely love by the way).

Did I mention that Graverobber is played by Terrance Zdunich...who is actually the co-writer of the songs/story? LOVE! Totally in admiration of the guy.

Another trivia is that the director originally refused to audition Paris for the part. lol. But it was so perfect for her...a whiny, slutty, rich man's daughter...yep.
